Philip, a native of Nigeria, is the founder and Volunteer in Chief of Efiwe. Recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Efiwe is dedicated to the collection of college textbooks throughout the United States and the distribution of those textbooks to post-secondary institutions in Africa. Efiwe donates all textbooks to the libraries of African universities. Since its inception in 2017, Efiwe has donated over 9,000 books to fifteen separate post-secondary institutions in Ghana and Nigeria. Philip is committed to raising conversations in the Brown Community and greater Providence, RI regarding conducting business in Africa. Efiwe is quickly expanding to other African countries; branches in Kenya and Liberia are soon on the horizon. Efiwe’s broad goal is to deliver over 1 million textbooks to post-secondary institution libraries in Africa by 2030. Efiwe’s strategy is to receive book donation requests from African institution libraries and develop independent book drives in the United States to fulfill the requests. Philip has also led business, marketing, entrepreneurship, and teaching initiatives in Nigeria. Philip likes to explore opportunities in entrepreneurship, innovation, business, and social work in Africa. He is most eager to engage in conversations about entrepreneurship, innovation, doing business/social work in Africa and starting a social venture. Sign up for his office hours, here!
