Fashion Founder Panel Discussion

We’re thrilled to virtually welcome three incredible founders who are shaping the fashion world with their start-ups:

This panel will dive into their journeys, challenges, and insights int he world of fashion entrepreneurship. Join us at the Nelson Center for Entrepreneurship for this inspiring discussion either in-person (Liz Lange Lecture Hall @ NCE) or via Zoom. Note: All three speakers will be attending via Zoom. 

About Rosie Mangiarotti '18

Perkies creates innovative undergarments for women to wear. A company born from Danny Warshay’s ENGN1010 class at Brown University, Perkies is best known for their Perkies Petals: Reusable Nipple Covers and Perkies Nips: Nipple Enhancers to provide a consistent, perky look. Perkies Nips (patent pending) are aligned with the pop culture trend of #freethenip, and an impact product for women who’ve had a mastectomy and no longer have nipples post-surgery. Perkies is dedicated to sustainability, inclusivity, and empowering women to feel confident, while also donating 5% of all website sales across www.perkies.com, to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation®. 

About Emma Butler '20

Emma Butler (Brown ’20) is the founder of Liberare, an adaptive intimates brand making dressing easier for women with chronic pain, mobility challenges, or disabilities. After seeing her mom struggle with traditional bras, Emma created patent-pending easy-on bras that blend function and style. Butler has raised $1m to date. Recognized as Forbes 30 Under 30 2024, Emma has partnered with Victoria’s Secret, Nordstrom, and QVC to bring inclusivity to the forefront of fashion.

About Rena Andrews '99

Rena Andrews, founder, designer, and CEO of women’s lifestyle brand Lalita, launched her Los Angeles-based company in 2015 following a successful Kickstarter campaign. Known for adding a seductive twist to classic styles, Lalita quickly gained celebrity and media attention, with Sharon Stone, Janet Jackson, and Demi Lovato showcasing its pieces. Rena’s achievements include being featured as a successful case study in the global Mastered Accessories program, presenting at New York Fashion Week, and being named one of 10 brands to watch by Curve. She also won accolades such as WeWork Mission Possible for Los Angeles and sold her first NFT for photography.

A Brown University graduate with a BA in Afro-American Studies, Rena’s career journey spans from tutoring to experiential event production for major clients like SHEIN and Neutrogena. Her pivot from acting and tutoring to launching Lalita reflects her passion for creativity and entrepreneurship, driven by extensive research into global lingerie and apparel markets.
