FEAST Lecture Series: Nested Constraints – Women’s Entrepreneurship Around the World

March 12, 2018 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

REGISTER HERE!

Join the Nelson Center for Entrepreneurship for a continuation of our Forum on Entrepreneurship, Analytics, Scholarship and Thought (FEAST) series, for a conversation with Dr. Linda Scott, our Visting Scholar at Brown and a Professor Emeritus, DP World Chair of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Oxford.

New research and nation-level data show that women are disadvantaged in entrepreneurship just as they are in employment, but through a slightly different set of constraints, both locally and globally. These barriers are nested within more familiar challenges, such as the care burden and gender bias.  Removing the obstacles will require multiple interventions, precisely and deliberately applied. She will provide a brief overview of the current efforts to untangle women from centuries-old limitations on their ability to own and grow businesses.

Co-sponsored by the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs and the Pembroke Center for Teaching and Research on Women at Brown University.

Lunch will be provided.

All of our events are open to the public.
