Join Brown EP for a virtual Venture Capital Panel featuring Lee Hower, Ashley Paston, and Shane Sabine ’07. This event is open to all students.
The panel will focus on helping aspiring entrepreneurs learn more about the VC world and raising capital, as well as provide students with the opportunity to learn more about VC as a potential career path. Register here.
About the panelists:
Lee Hower graduated from the University of Pennsylvania’s Management & Technology program, where he obtained a BAS in Systems Engineering and a BS Economics from the Wharton School. After finishing his undergrad, Lee Hower went on to become an early employee of PayPal, where he was responsible for the strategy and business development with PayPal’s banking and external payment partners. He then co-founded LinkedIn, serving as head of corporate development. In 2005, Lee Hower joined PJC, a Boston-based early-stage VC firm focused on emerging technology companies. He served as a Principle and then as a Venture Partner. Lee is currently a co-founder and Partner at NextView Ventures, where he has led investments in more than 20 seed-stage companies since 2010.
Ashley Paston graduated summa cum laude from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, with a degree in finance. She then went on to work in McKinsey & Company’s strategy and corporate finance group, serving as a management consultant. At McKinsey, Ashley Paston advised financial services, clients, strategic investments, and growth opportunities. In 2018, she joined Bain Capital Ventures, a venture capital division within Bain Capital with approximately $105 billion of assets under management worldwide. Ashley is a current investor at Bain Capital Ventures, where she focuses on early and growth equity investments in financial and enterprise technology.
Shane Sabine ’07: As a student at Brown, Shane Sabine was a quarterback on the football team while also pursuing a concentration in Business Economics. Upon graduating, Shane decided to take his talents abroad, playing quarterback for a football team in Germany. After this experience, Shane began breaking into Munich’s VC scene by creating Ad Astra, an operational consultancy catering to the innovation ecosystem as well as enterprises such as Bosch, Deutsche Bank, and Deutsche Telekom. Currently, Shane works at Waterman Ventures, one of the 25 sister funds for the Alumni Venture Groups, and remains passionate about helping others break into the VC industry.
