2023-2024 Hazeltine Graduate Research Proposals Due

Request for Proposals. The Hazeltine Fellowship provides funding for entrepreneurship research conducted by graduate students at Brown University who are either collaborating with faculty or operating under faculty guidance. For instance, the Fellowship is capable of funding research aligned with dissertations or sparking the inception of fresh research topics alongside faculty members. Typically, 2-3 awards are made from the $19,000 available each academic year. Proposal Submission Guidelines: The Fellowship’s primary objective is to advance the field of entrepreneurship study. Proposed projects must incorporate a section that explicitly addresses the projected impact of the undertaking and its contribution to entrepreneurship-related scholarship. This impact can range from the culmination of a project, such as a PhD dissertation or publication, to an earlier-stage outcome like presenting the work in a seminar, professional association meeting, or lecture. Regardless of the chosen option, fellowship recipients are expected to share their findings and deliver presentations within the Brown University community during the spring semester of 2024. Priority will be given to proposals that display interdisciplinary characteristics. Proposals should explicitly establish a connection between the graduate student and one or more faculty members. Submissions should be collaborative, reflecting either independent research supervised by faculty or the exploration of a new research domain alongside a faculty member. Proposals must include a budget detailing expenses directly linked to field research or the manner in which Hazeltine Fellowship funds will facilitate the execution of a more extensive research endeavor. Fellowship funds may be allocated for project-related expenses, such as data acquisition, research-related travel, conferences, presentations, transcriptions, project-specific hardware/software, etc. While the funds are intended for expenses in the AY23/24 academic year, their utilization can extend into AY24/25. Notably, these funds cannot be employed for personal living costs or salaries. Proposals should be concise, extending to no more than 5 double-spaced pages, including the proposed itemized budget supported by justifications and a project timeline.
