1Unit founded by Andrew K Stein ‘06 in 2014 offers design solutions allowing hospitals to be self-sufficient in developing proactive care. Their physician-founder developed Structured Interdisciplinary Bedside Rounds (SIBR) brings the bedside nurse, physician and allied health to the patient’s bedside to synthesize a mutually supported plan of care in an efficient, patient-centered experience. 1Unit, true to its name, organizes doctors, nurses, and others into unit-based teams with the goal of fewer infections and happy patients and staff.
Their impact can be seen in 28% lower in-hospital mortality, 20% fewer hospital acquired infections and $1000 reduced cost of hospital care per patient.
