Changing the Refuge Narrative through Fashion

Epimonia founder Mohamed Malim will give a talk on his social enterprise as part of the lectureship on Borders organized by the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies.

Mohamed Malim is an innovator, social entrepreneur, humanitarian, and visionary. Above all else, he is a proud refugee working to bring change to the world. Mohamed graduated from the University of St. Thomas, Opus College of Business studying Business Management and Entrepreneurship with a full ride. Mohamed is the founder of Dream Refugee. Dream Refugee uses the power of storytelling as a unique way of tackling today’s most relevant and troubling themes of exclusion, xenophobia, and apathy. Storytelling enables Dream Refugee to showcase to the broader community the untold refugee experience and create empathy and compassion between disparate communities. In addition to expanding Dream Refugee, he will be spreading the word about his newest endeavor, a company called Epimonia which recycles refugee life-jackets into bracelets, mixing fashion and philanthropy.
