Request for Proposals 2018-19 BEO Hazeltine Fellowship for Graduate Research in Entrepreneurship

May 20, 2018

The Hazeltine Fellowship funds entrepreneurship research by graduate students who are either working with faculty or under the guidance of a faculty member. For example, the Fellowship may fund dissertation-related research or provide the seeds for initiating a new topic of research with a faculty member.

Information about applying and previously funded projects can be found on the BEO website under the Graduate Research Page. The deadline for this year’s proposals is May 20, 2018 by 5PM.

The following are guidelines for proposals:
i. In terms of substance, the Fellowship’s purpose is to advance the study of entrepreneurship. Proposed
projects should include a section that explicitly addresses the expected impact of the project. This could
vary from a final-stage deliverable such as a PhD dissertation or publication, to an earlier-stage outcome
such as the presentation of work in a seminar, professional association presentation, or lecture. Under
either option students are expected to disseminate their work and make presentations before the BEO
faculty in late spring of 2017.
ii. To advance BEO’s goals, the faculty will give priority to proposals that are interdisciplinary.
iii. The proposal should explicitly link the graduate student and one or more faculty members and be
submitted jointly, reflecting either independent research carried out under faculty supervision, or the
exploration of a new research field with a faculty member.
iv. Finally, the proposal should include a budget of the expenses directly linked to the field research, or the
way in which Hazeltine Fellowship funds will help carry out a larger body of research.
v. The proposal should be no longer than 5 pages, double-spaced, including proposed budget and budget
justification.
vi. The deadline for this year’s proposals is May 20, 2018 by 5PM. Please send a proposal to:
