Uproot is a food service provider specializing in sustainable, affordable plant milk. Offerings include almond, soy, coconut, oat, and chocolate pea milk; Uproot products are fair-trade and non-GMO. The company was founded by Kevin Eve, ‘18 in 2018. Uproot received the 2019 Brown Venture Founder award and was a part of the 2018 B-Lab cohort.
Since then, Uproot launched its single-serve cartons and is now the primary milk provider to Brown University, Roger Williams University, and Villanova University, to name a few. Uproot’s cartons were also the #1 new release in the oat milk category on Amazon.

Tagg is a social medial platform founded in 2021 by Victor Loolo, ’20, Blessing Ubani, ’21, Sophie Chen, RISD ’21, Izayah Powell, ’21 and Steven Fang. Currently, being a content creator is the most coveted career of kids but only 0.25% of the market earns 100% of revenue generated in the economy. Tagg allows users to build earnings from creating content. To date, Tagg has raised over 2 million in venture funding, and 9,000 content-creators have earned from the platform. Tagg was named a Top 5 Startup to Watch in San Francisco and Rhode Island in 2022. Founders say Brown was pivotal in Tagg’s initial success by gifting them an initial user-base. Later down the line, the Brown network was key in their raise as well as growth as entrepreneurs.

Founded in 2015, Vitae Industries is a pharmaceutical manufacturing company founded by Daniel DiCiccio, ’15. The company utilizes 3D printing technology to streamline and personalize drug manufacturing. Rather than a generic prescription drug, the company’s AutoCompounder allows patients to receive personalized dosages. Since its launch, the company has secured more than $2 million in venture funding.
The venture was a 2015 B-Lab alum and awarded the Manufacturing Awards Emerging Manufacturer by Polaris MEP in 2021.
