Founder Fridays: Charlie Kroll ‘ 01, Co-Founder of Ellevest and Andera, a Brown dorm room startup that sold for $48M

November 10, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Join us for our Founder Friday’s series featuring Charlie Kroll ’01, who started his entrepreneurial journey right in his dorm room at Brown University. After graduating in 2001 with a concentration in Economics, and with the help of mentors like Barrett Hazeltine and Stephen Siegel ScM ’83, PhD ’85, Charlie started Andera, a venture-backed tech firm that makes software for banks. In 2014, he sold his company to a publicly traded financial software firm, and the company and its employees all remain in Providence today. He is now the co-founder and President of Ellevest, a NYC-based digital financial advisor focused on the unique needs of women, that recently raised $34M in one of NYC’s largest Series A rounds of the year.

For years Charlie has generously worked closely with students through Brown EP, and is continuing to through the Nelson Center for Entrepreneurship. He is also an active member of the President’s Leadership Council and on the board of Venture for America.
