Brown Hack Health 2018

September 14, 2018 @ 8:00 am - September 16, 2018 @ 5:00 pm

A new kind of hackathon that aims to create solutions to medical problems and barriers. This weekend is your opportunity to work with fellow designers, engineers, developers, physicians, artists, entrepreneurs, mentors, and others to help develop tools that could change the worlds of medicine and health.

Keynote Speaker 2018 Geoff Capraro, MD, MPH
Geoff Capraro, MD, MPH, will be attending Brown Hack Health 2018 as the keynote speaker. Dr. Capraro is a pediatric emergency sub-specialist and Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Brown University. During the first Brown Hack Health, Dr. Capraro met Soojung Ham, Professor of Industrial Design at RISD and worked her and RISD students, and her colleague, Professor Claudia Rebola on the first iterations of NaloBox, cabinets containing life-saving naloxone and rescue masks which are paired with community trainings in opioid overdose recognition and rescue. Fifty-seven NaloxBox pilots were deployed with the support of the RI Dept. of Health. Now, the RI Disaster Medical Assistance Team is taking over NaloxBox operations in order to scale up the instate, and beyond. Dr. Capraro’s focus on community-based emergency response will set the tone for Brown Hack Health 2018.
